The Mexican Proteomics Society (SMP) is a civil, non-profit association, formed by academics, professionals and students interested in the development of proteomics research in Mexico.
SMP was founded on June 1, 2005 in the City of Cuernavaca, Morelos, by a group of scientists with extensive experience in biochemistry, in whose laboratories began to implement proteomics studies based on mass spectrometry, in Mexico.
SMP aims are:
a) Integrate professionals from different disciplines who work directly with long-chain protein analysis or who are users of technologies related to proteomic analysis and who seek high-quality scientific production, in line with the most recent advances in the study of proteins.
b) Encourage and develop the exchange of knowledge in the area of proteomics research and technologies related to national and foreign, public and / or private institutions.
c) Organize congresses, symposia and meetings on topics related to proteomics research
d) Promote the training of specialists in the area of proteomics based on mass spectrometry and bioinformatics
e) Promote the modernization, innovation, development and linking of research, with competitive commercial developments derived from the proteomic research of the members of this association.
f) Carry out different social or artistic events in order to raise funds, which will be used exclusively to finance the activities of the association.
